Students should not write to the CLAA staff saying, “I need help with my lesson” or “I don’t understand the lesson.” The right way to get help is to work through the lesson first.
Follow the lesson instructions carefully. Read everything, watch everything, and do what the lesson says to do. Most confusion comes from skipping directions or reading too quickly.
Study according to the article “How to Study for Mastery.” This method teaches students how to learn by reading, reviewing, and reflecting until they truly understand. Real progress comes through patient, repeated study.
Do your best and complete the lesson assessments. Take the quiz or submit the assignment even if you are unsure. The results will show what parts you understand and what parts need work.
After making a second effort at improving your work on the assessments, if specific issues remain, communicate those with CLAA staff for help.
Students must take responsibility for their own studies -- that's what it means to be a "student". When students do so, they will have specific issues they need help with, making support easy to receive. Once you have done your part, you may write to the CLAA staff with specific questions. Help will always be given to students who have worked through their lessons and can describe their difficulties clearly.
