1. Minimum Passing Score
The minimum passing score required to mark a lesson activity as complete in a CLAA course is 80%. Once a student reaches this score on a quiz or exam, the activity is automatically marked complete on the course page in Moodle. This allows students to progress through their course at a steady pace.
2. Mastery Is Encouraged
While 80% is the minimum passing score, students are encouraged to work toward a higher level of mastery:
- Mastery is typically considered to be 90% or above.
- Students may review lessons, retake quizzes or exams, and revise assignments at any time.
- This helps students build real understanding rather than settling for minimum performance.
3. Resubmissions and Retakes
One of the advantages of CLAA’s self-paced, mastery-based program is that students are never “stuck” with a low score:
- Quizzes and exams may be retaken as often as necessary.
- Written assignments may be revised and resubmitted after feedback.
- There are no penalties for resubmissions.
This encourages students to keep improving their work until they reach their personal best.
4. Activity Completion and Course Pages
Once the minimum passing score is achieved:
- The activity (quiz, exam, or assignment) is automatically marked complete on the Moodle course page.

- Students can still return to any activity later to raise their score.
