CLAA does not define “attendance” in the same way that traditional schools do, since the program is self-paced and online. Parents are the primary administrators of their children’s education and are ultimately responsible for tracking and reporting attendance according to local or state requirements.
Instructional Time and Attendance
- CLAA provides an “Attendance” report in the Study Center as a practical tool for families.
- Attendance in CLAA is measured as the total instructional time a student logs through active engagement with course activities in the Study Center.
- This includes time spent working on lessons, assignments, quizzes, and exams within the platform.
- Offline study, reading, or memorization outside the Study Center is not automatically counted toward attendance.
Using the Attendance Report
- Parents can access the Attendance report from the right-hand menu of the Study Center.
- They can select a date range (for example, an entire school year) and view total instructional time recorded for that period.
- The report can be grouped daily, weekly, monthly, or annually, depending on reporting needs.
- There is also an option to view detailed activities that contributed to the recorded instructional time.
Parent Responsibility
- Since CLAA is a private academic program, parents are responsible for determining how attendance is officially recorded for their homeschool or reporting jurisdiction.
- The Attendance report is provided as a helpful record to support parental record-keeping and meet state or local attendance requirements if applicable.
Summary
In CLAA, attendance is measured through total instructional time logged by students in the Study Center. Parents remain responsible for official attendance reporting, but the built-in Attendance report provides accurate, real-time data to support that record-keeping.
