Are standardized test scores required for CLAA students?

No. Standardized testing is not required for participation in the Classical Liberal Arts Academy. The CLAA focuses on mastery-based learning and direct evaluation through coursework, assessments, and progress tracking within the Study Center.

However, families who wish to include standardized testing as part of their student’s academic record may do so. The CLAA offers students the opportunity to take the California Achievement Test (CAT), a widely recognized standardized test used by many homeschoolers for assessment and reporting purposes. This is optional and available to support families who desire or require external academic benchmarks.

Note:  Annual, grade-level standardized testing is strongly recommened by Mr. Michael, the CLAA headmaster.
